Cleaning in preparation for Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is almost here, yaaay! It is that wonderful time of the year where we gather together with family, friends, and loved ones to give thanks, and celebrate the harvest and blessings of the previous year.Thanksgiving involves a lot of preparation. The turkey has to be marinated, the bread pudding prepared, cranberry sauce ready, greens, bread stuffing, potatoes, and pumpkin pie. There is lots to eat and drink, but most importantly, cleaning has to be done in preparation for Thanksgiving. The communal spaces in the home such as the living room and kitchen need to be deep cleaned inpreparation for Thanksgiving, and also to promote a healthy and safe environment. Unfortunately, Covid is still around with us, but we can do our part in staying safe and healthy by cleaning and sanitizing surfaces. This is important especially if we’ll be having friends over or elderly family members. Cleaning products such as Clorox and Lysol wipes can be used to disinfect surfaces, counter tops, and kitchen cabinets.Another important aspect of cleaning in preparation for Thanksgiving is the stove and the oven! The oven is where that juicy bird will go in to cook for a couple of hours. Therefore, the stove needs to be deep cleaned. An oven degreaser is ideal for cleaning the oven. Spray with fume-free Easy off and make sure the self-cleaning cycle is turned off and that the oven is cold. Next, you’d want to close the oven door and wait for two hours for the foam to penetrate oven soils. The next step is to use a brillo or plastic scraper to scrub heavy grease vigorously. Finally, wipe clean the oven, and consider investing in an oven liner to catch spills to prevent future cleaning.Let’s move on to the stove which is important for preparing those juicy meals for Thanksgiving. When cleaning the stove, we recommend using the cleaning product, bar keepers friend to clean off the grease. For the sides of the stove, a butter knife and Clorox wipe for the sides to get into crevasse between the counter and stove stop. Finally, we also recommend cleaning the floors in the living room and dining room where your family and guests would be seated. Use clorox wipes for surfaces and if your dining table has a glass top, you can use windex to give the glass a good shine. Sweep, vacuum and mop the floors, and you’re pretty much good to go for Thanksgiving. For the restrooms, you need a good toilet brush to get under the lip of the bowl to scrub out grime. A bowl cleanser specifically made for toilet bowls will do most of the work to remove bacteria, and hard water build-up. Also, be sure to wipe down the outside of the toilet bowl, the tank, toilet seat, and flushing handle. You can use disinfectant wipes, a reusable rag, paper towels, or a sponge to wipe down the exterior of the toilet. It is especially important to make sure the toilet is always clean, and more so during Thanksgiving, so guests can use them. We also recommend having an air freshener in the restroom in case a guest deposits some of their friends behind or weapons of mass destruction after an enjoyable Thanksgiving meal.If you’re not up to doing the cleaning yourself, you can always give Sarina’s Cleaning Services a call, and we’d get the cleaning done for you.Happy Thanksgiving!
